Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. MISS: Trina laying all the blame for her parents’ divorce on Jordan (GH). It was cool seeing Trina (Tabyana Ali) with an edge when she confronted Jordan (Tanisha Harper) about her parents’ damaged-beyond-repair marriage. However, it felt like she blamed Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) ex-wife for all of her parents’ problems. And that’s nowhere near the vicinity of true. Is it an element? Yes. However, there were numerous other issues that contributed to the destruction of that relationship. And Trina will learn that when she finds out about Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and Portia (Brook Kerr).
9. HIT: The Cane and Lily angst is real (Y&R). The kiss between Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Cane (Billy Flynn) has created an endless amount of angst between Cane and Lily (Christel Khalil). He sees or thinks that Lily isn’t budging on her opinions about him. Meanwhile, Lily’s beliefs about Cane have totally softened, and just when that happened, she spotted Phyllis and Cane kissing. Walls up for Lily. As for Cane, he’s done trying to convince Lily that he’s changed. He wants a “fresh start.” That kiss was a game-changer, but it’s just a stop on this Cane and Lily story.
8. MISS: Can one of Kat’s parents stick up for her (BTG)? Ted (Keith D. Robinson) has every right to want Eva (Ambyr Michelle) to call him dad. But he doesn’t have any right to force Eva on Kat (Colby Muhammad). She has very valid reasons to hate Eva, and she even told Ted about Eva sleeping with Tomas (Alex Alegria), but it didn’t even matter. He just keeps talking about her taking her privileged life for granted. So what if she does? Can’t he empathize with her at all? Meanwhile, Eva and Kat’s battle at the hospital took place in front of her parents. And after Kat walked off upset, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) didn’t even go after her to console her. Can one of them step up for their daughter? Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) will go to the mat for Eva. Nicole should do the same for Kat.
7. HIT: Bill and Katie reunite (B&B). Well, this moment took a long time to materialize. Bill (Don Diamont) and Katie (Heather Tom) finally reunited, and it felt like it was earned. Bill needed to check himself and really see that the way he had treated Katie in the past was supremely wrong. He has learned, and they will be much stronger as they face Luna’s lunacy now that she’s broken out of prison.
6. MISS: Jennifer goes after Chad’s kids, citing negligence (DAYS). Jennifer’s scorched-earth approach with Chad (Billy Flynn) was beyond difficult to watch. He was simply consoling Cat (AnnaLynne McCord). There were no plans to reunite or anything. Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Thomas (Cary Christopher) misconstrued the situation. Thomas is a child. What’s Jennifer’s excuse? And now she’s about to sue Chad for the custody of his kids so she can take them to Boston, where they don’t have to see Cat. And now Jack (Matthew Ashford) supports this madness. Make it make sense. Having said that, Billy Flynn is doing a great job with the material.
5. HIT: The awkward double dinner date (BTG). The dinner date featuring Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), Hayley (Marquita Goings), Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) was ill-advised in the best way possible. It was awkward, tense, and informative. We found out that Hayley’s taking birth control. And we’re fairly certain that Bill can sense something is amiss with Naomi and Jacob.
4. MISS: Phyllis tries to seduce Cane (Y&R). This isn’t about Phyllis and Cane’s viability as a couple — we’ll need more time to process that. It’s more a matter of wondering how Phyllis can steal Cane’s AI program, hand it over to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who uses the weapon on Arabesque. She gaslights him, hits on him, and thinks they would make a great couple. Hopefully, Cane really is “working an angle.” But if he isn’t, and he strongly suspects Phyllis, then what is he thinking?
3. HIT: Ned’s heart attack/the teens’ mission goes bust (GH). The fact that these two stories ultimately intersected was great. But there were so many standout moments. Loved Gio (Giovanni Mazza) calling Ned (Wally Kurth) “grandad” and helping to save Ned’s life. Rocco (Finn Carr) sacrificed everything because he knew Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) couldn’t take another hit. Sonny (Maurice Benard) enlisted Ric (Rick Hearst) to be Rocco’s lawyer. The Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny scene in the courtroom after the charges were changed was good. And poor Rocco, thinking this would be a smooth ride to community service. But that’s not what happened.
2. MISS: Luna breaks out of prison (B&B). Breaking out of prison was an inevitable outcome for this story. Just thought it wouldn’t be so soon. The laundry cart was beyond convenient. Luna (Lisa Yamada) truly believes that she and Will (Crew Morrow) had a relationship. Next time she ends up behind bars, they need to make therapy mandatory.
1. HIT: 60th Anniversary Week (DAYS). The big gala, the bigger returns, and the abundance of flashbacks all contributed to a wonderful week of history lessons and characters reconnecting. The gala speeches remembering Dr. Tom Horton and John Black were poignant and may have brought tears to our eyes. And kudos to the DAYS team for including so many flashbacks and not just the ones we have seen over and over. DAYS did this milestone anniversary right.
