Eagley-eyed Corrie fans have been sharing thoughts about Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s wedding as filming was taking place

Coronation Street fans think they have ‘figured out’ a massive change will be made to the upcoming wedding of Lisa Swain and Carla Connor after it was revealed filming was taking place.

It was confirmed in January that wedding bells would be ringing for the popular couple, known to fans as ‘Swarla’, after they suffered quite the blow in their relationship following the shock return of Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain.

As fans of the ITV soap, after a turbulent start to their relationship, things started to look up when Lisa popped the question and the couple moved into their first home, No.6 Coronation Street.

So their future was flipped upside down once again as Lisa’s past quite literally came back to haunt them with the return Becky, who was presumed to have died in the line of duty.

Becky was almost successful in her attempts at pulling the couple apart, and after convincing Lisa and their daughter, Betsy Swain, to leave the country with her, the villain was stopped in her tracks, albeit in dramatic fashion as they become involved in a horror multi-vehicle pile-up.

After Becky’s downfall, which has seen her sentenced to 12 years in prison, Lisa was keen to reunite with Carla. While the Underworld factory boss was initially hesistent to forgive, she couldn’t stay away from the love of her life for long.

Following their reunion, Carla has since surprised Lisa, by booking their wedding date, April 23 to be exact, at the Chariot Square Hotel, and while it appears their upcoming nuptials will be plain sailing for the two women after quite a dramatic few months for their relationship, their ‘beautiful’ wedding day will end with a shock for poor Betsy as Lisa’s daughter discovers one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.

But, the wedding itself does look set to go without a hitch. During Wednesday’s (February 25) episode of This Morning, the show’s ‘Queen of Soaps’ Sharon Marshall shared an update on the highly-anticipated marriage between Carla and Lisa, as she was confirmed she was behind-the-scenes for the filming of the big day.

During the broadcast, Sharon confirmed that in “a first in the soap’s history, two girls getting married without any calamities on the way”. She had previously said: “I can tell you they are filming the Swarla wedding today!”

But, some Corrie fans have been left convinced that there will be a change to the big day, as they spotted a number of the show’s stars hinting that Underworld was a busy location during the mid-week filming day.

Both Andy Whyment and Samia Longchambon, who play siblings Kirk Sutherland and Maria Windass in Corrie, both posted photos from the Underworld set. While Andy said: “A day in Undwerworld,” Samia admitted: “Lots going on in here today… [eyes emoji] @coronationstreet.”

@LynseyD81 commented: “If the wedding ended up being in Underworld, u just know Sally the ally would have rallied the troops #corrie #swarla.” @Fake_TV_Chef suggested: “Maybe they just move the party to Underworld (from Chariot Square) and watch the fireworks from there. #Swarla #Corrie.” @mntgmerysheps added: “Why are they filming for the wedding at underworld.”
