Death Threat in Emmerdale: Aaron Faces Terror After Robert’s Ultimate Betrayal
Emmerdale has plunged Aaron Dingle into fresh heartbreak and danger as his rekindled romance with Robert Sugden takes a deadly turn. Just when Aaron thought life might finally be offering him peace, he finds himself the target of a violent threat — and at the mercy of Robert’s latest deceit.
Aaron’s world shattered after discovering that Robert (Ryan Hawley), the man he thought he was rebuilding a future with, is already married — to Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), a man recently released from prison on compassionate grounds after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Robert’s plan had been simple, if cruel: keep his marriage a secret, let Kev’s illness take its course, and inherit his money — all while reigniting his affair with Aaron. But Kev’s sudden freedom threw everything into chaos.
Determined not to be replaced, Kev made a public claim on Robert with a shocking kiss outside The Woolpack, humiliating Aaron and leaving the village stunned.
Aaron’s Breaking Point
The betrayal cut Aaron deeply. Having already endured trauma from his husband John Sugden’s murderous double life, Aaron had begun to let his guard down again — only to realise Robert had been lying to him all over.
To make matters worse, Robert’s betrayal runs even deeper. It’s revealed he shared Aaron’s most private pain — details about his abuse at the hands of his father Gordon — with Kev. When Aaron discovers this, it destroys what little trust remained between them.
Chas (Lucy Pargeter) steps in to support her devastated son, but Aaron spirals into despair, retreating to his flat — where his nightmare only intensifies.
Kev’s Chilling Warning
In one of the week’s most gripping scenes, Kev confronts Aaron alone, his voice cold and venomous. He warns Aaron to back off and leave Robert alone, making it clear that he’s capable of violence if pushed.
Actor Chris Coghill teased the darkness behind Kev’s behaviour: “He’s an incredibly dangerous person. Kev wouldn’t have any qualms about physically attacking anybody, apart from possibly Robert.”
Viewers have already seen Kev under police scrutiny, questioned by DS Carter in connection with a violent assault — proof that his criminal past is far from over.
