Jacob’s excruciating ordeal in Emmerdale as bullying boss closes in
Dr Todd’s (Caroline Harker) return to Emmerdale will not be a happy one.
The stern-faced Todd first appeared last year when Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) went on placement as a trainee doctor at Hotton General’s A&E.
He made quite a few slipups, breaking confidentiality with one patient, and making various poor decisions after returning too early after the death of his mum.
It’s been a year since those painful first days on placement, but things aren’t getting better for Jacob.
Caroline Harker is returning as the formidable Dr Todd, ready to put Jacob on blast for every teeny, tiny mistake he makes. Emmerdale is set to explore nasty workplace bullying and Jacob will be at the centre of it.

Things haven’t been easy for the young dad-to-be. He’s trying to juggle work while preparing for a baby and supporting Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) to support her cancer-stricken granddad. His worries filter into work and he begins to struggle.
He opens up to Pollard and lays bare how he really feels, including about how harsh his boss is. The problem is, he doesn’t realise Dr Todd is standing right behind him and hears everything.
He’s forced to make an excruciating apology, but the damage is done.
Todd then drops a bombshell on him – she has selected him for her mentorship programme. For many, this might be a huge step forward for their career.

For Jacob, it means more one on one time with the woman who does nothing but criticise. He smiles, feigning gratitude for the opportunity, but secretly he is dreading it.
And with word that Dr Todd might be moving to the village, there will be no escape for struggling Jacob, who’s also trying to support a wife whose family is being ravaged by murder accusations and the C word.
