Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) might well rue the day she made an enemy out of Max Branning (Jake Wood) in EastEnders as her fate now lies in his hands.

The young character has brought trouble aplenty to the Slaters’ door since her arrival last year when she rocked up on a secret mission to destroy biological mum Zoe (Michelle Ryan).

For months, Zoe was tormented by Jasmine, who was acting on behalf of Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), with the former pub landlady hellbent on settling old scores.

But Jasmine had her own motivations too, holding onto some resentment towards Zoe, believing she abandoned her when she was just a baby.

The nightmare escalated for Zoe over Christmas when was left to languish in a prison cell after she was arrested for the murder of Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), a crime carried out by Jasmine herself.

In a bid to free her daughter and with some assistance from Chrissie, Kat succeeded in bringing Jasmine back to the Square earlier this week, coaxing her into confessing to Anthony’s murder.

Jasmine did just that, confirming that she acted in self-defence as she explained that she filmed the whole incident on her phone. Convinced that Jasmine would be believed, Kat contacted the police, who subsequently arrived and took her away for questioning.

Desperate, Jasmine leaned on former flame Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier), pleading with him to locate her phone, which has gone missing, reiterating that it contains the video evidence she needs in order to corroborate her self-defence claims.

Zoe, meanwhile, was released from captivity and railed at Kat for reporting her daughter. Without wasting a second, Zo decided to search for the missing device where it was last seen in the pub.

But it’s not in the pub.

In a rather unexpected twist, Max is in possession of the phone. After hearing reports of a video that could clear Jasmine’s name, he searched the mobile device to find the clip in question.

The question is: just what will he do with it? There is certainly no love lost between he and Jasmine after she accused him of making a pass at her in a bid to drive a wedge between he and son Oscar.

Realising that there was a possibility that Jasmine was just using him, Oscar apologised to Max for not believing his claims of innocence sooner. Max urged lovelorn Oscar to stay away from Jasmine, believing her to be poison.

But now he holds all the cards to keep them apart. Will Max delete the footage and thus sentence Jasmine to a life of prison following a murder charge?

Or will Oscar stumble upon the phone and successfully rescue his former girlfriend?
