Emmerdale’s Chris Bisson says ‘wow’ as he shares rare family update
Emmerdale star Chris Bisson has shared a rare insight into family life in an update posted to social media. The actor has been a mainstay on Emmerdale since he joined the cast in 2008. His character Jai Sharma has been part of the soap’s most gripping storylines, including the recent Corriedale special episode.
His arrival in the Dales was marred by family drama over who was really in charge at the Sharma and Sharma sweet factory. Jai has also endured a turbulent love life on Emmerdale and has been romantically involved with key characters such as Charity Dingle, Megan Macey and Laurel Thomas.
Away from the screen, Chris is in a happy relationship with his wife Rowena Finn. The two have been together since 2006 and they share two children.
Their son Harry was born in 2013 and daughter Ella Rose two years later in 2015.
Chris recently shared a heartfelt post on social media to mark his son’s 13th birthday. Sharing a photo with Harry, Chris said: “Happy Birthday to my TEENAGE son and my best mate.”

He added: “Wow… how has that happened… 13 today! We love you.”
The soap star doesn’t often invite fans into his life away from the screen. But there has been several wholesome family photos posted to his Instagram account over the years, as well as updates on their home renovation project.
Before he joined the Yorkshire Dales, Chris was a key member of the cast of Coronation Street. The actor played Vikram Desai in Weatherfield from 1999 – 2002.
Fans were delighted when Steve McDonald addressed the elephant in the room during the soap crossover on Monday evening, which was every soap fan’s dream.
While Jai Sharma was sat in his van, Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) stared at the character in disbelief. He said: “I swear I’ve just seen someone I used to work with.”
Fans were in stitches at Steve’s hilarious reference to Chris’ past role as Vikram on the cobbles.
Taking to social media during the episode, one fan said: “Loved the nod to Vikram Desai in #Corriedale when Steve saw Chris Bisson’s #Emmerdale character.”
A second said: “I personally loved the bit when Steve saw Jai and said it reminded him of someone he used to work with!”
